As you may have heard yesterday, Quompilation #2 is now streaming away in it’s entirety. We’re very pleased with how it’s turned out and hopefully you’re just as excited about hearing it as we are. The tapes arrived today and they’ll be all packaged and made beautiful in time for Friday night. Speaking of which, doors are at 8pm and the first act on stage won’t be much later. We’ve got eight incredible bands to get through so it’s going to be a pretty full-on evening of top quality tunes. You can find all the relevant details about the launch on the FB event page. Click attending if you haven’t already, it’ll serve as a timely reminder should the occasion slip your mind by week’s end. Invite people anyone you think might like it, we like new faces around the place. We would recommend putting your name down for a pre-order because the way things are going, there’s not going to be an awful lot of tapes left come Friday night and we don’t want people to be disappointed at the door.

There’s not a whole lot left to say at this point really, just listen and enjoy and thank you so much for paying even the smallest bit of attention to our tiny endeavor. We’ve got big plans for this year and the Quomp is a great way to get things started. See you Friday.

It’s that time of year again and we’re back with another collection of thirteen fantastic Irish artists covering some of their favourite tracks from the year just gone.

We’ll be launching the tape with a big ol’ bash in Crawdaddy on January 27th (as part of POD’s Independence Month) involving as many of the bands as we can fit onto the stage.

Cassettes will be very limited in number so to avoid disappointment you can pre-order your copy from our web-store. Everyone who orders in advance will receive their own copy with a personal, hand-written dedication on the inside. Pre-ordering will also get you into the launch party for free! If you want to pick up your pre-order at the launch, just select Antarctica as your shipping destination and we’ll hang onto it for you. If you’re actually ordering from Antarctica, we’ll send it to you for free anyway.

If there is any stock remaining after the launch night, it will be available in your friendly, neighbourhood indie record store so keep an eye out for it.

Friday the 18th of November sees us take on the behemoth that is State.ie in the live rock music extravaganza of the year.

Wiltz, Simon Bird and Rhino Magic will be taking to the stage in the Mercantile from 9pm which should make for a pretty diverse evening of music. It’s free and it should be a right aul larf chaps.

P.S. I have no idea why the poster says Rhino Collective on it.

New music from Simon Bird’s even weirder, more ambient side project. Deeply unsettling and unnerving, this is a collection of four completely improvised, one-take pieces that have not been produced or overdubbed in any way. No samples were used either, which makes the entire thing even more interesting.

FTBT 3 is upon us! Saturday September 17th will see Ireland’s most under-rated pop star taking to the Loft Stage in the Twisted Pepper to give us a set full of funky skwee-pop. Her debut album ‘Squick’, released last year, was one of our favourite records and we’re looking forward to hearing songs from that as well as some new slices of wonky R’n'B.

Meljoann also did an exclusive mix for us last year and it was pretty a incredible look into an shockingly vibrant Irish underground electronic scene.

Also playing on the night will be Lion Of The Ghetto. Formerly one half of nutso dubby electronica merchants Digger, LotG is a new direction for Red O’Regan, showing off a greater pop sensibility alongside his long-established acerbic sense of humour and party-starting tendencies. The man himself describes it best – “I make stuff that crosses 80s style electro, italo, freestyle, boogie funk and pop but with electronica production methods/editing. More or less. When I play for ye I’ll be cutting up and mashing up old tunes with my own and doing some very live set pieces. It’ll be a party set.”

He is currently working on an album and despite it being kept strictly under wraps up to this point, he’ll be dropping a few tunes from it on the night. We’re more excited than you can imagine.

Finally, the mysterious Scout Hardcastle will also be joining in on the fun. Another act with an album on the way, this is pure skwee funk of the highest quality. You can check out a tune on this great skweee compilation as well as this Meljoann remix:
